Kidd & LuEllen #2. In a city corrupt from top to bottom, it takes someone working outside the law to bring down the entire system.

Recent Sanford books are formulated with police investigators have a case and solve it with little thrills and suspense as evidences surface. Too often the evidences appeared to keep the story going, counting pages. This 1992 work on Kidd and LuEllen have a mission that required a plot with plan-do-act and the end. The art of Tarot card reading is a bonus feature in this caper. (The Fool's Run was book one of Kidd's adventure ... on my reading list)

The beginning is a bit slow and does not make much sense, but once it picks up it gets extremely interesting and entertaining

A lot of people loved this book but I struggled with it. I still love the characters of Kidd and Luelen and the premise is interesting.

A huge departure from a Fools Run which I loved. Worth reading if you like the series as I do.

I got my deck from the cupboard. It was a common deck, the Waite-Rider. There are hundreds of tarots in circulation, but you can buy a Waite-Rider anyplace that handles occult stuff. It's a standard, which is a good thing, because when I needed the second identical deck, I had no trouble finding one. The second deck was in a little cardboard box we'd taped under the edge of the table.
